What is CBT therapy?
Book Now
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT, is a family of talking therapies, all based on the idea that thoughts, feelings, what we do, and how our bodies feel, are all connected. If we change one of these we can alter all the others. When we’re low or upset, we often fall into patterns of thinking and responding which can worsen how we feel. CBT works to help us notice and change problematic thinking styles or behaviour patterns so we can feel better. CBT is a collaborative therapy - it’s not something that is done to someone, it’s a way of working together with a CBT therapist on mutually agreed goals. See animation with Jo Brand
CBT and Reflexology
Whilst I do not currently offer a stand alone course of treatments in CBT therapy, I use the theories, ideas and techniques of CBT to support my reflexology treatments and advice where appropriate. As Reflexology is a holistic therapy, it seems sensible to look at the way we think, together with how we are feeling, both physically and emotionally, and our behaviours. Unknowingly, we may have adopted a cycle of thought patterns, feelings and behaviours which perpetuates a negative situation. Often, a slight change in our thought processes can be enough to break into this cycle ,which improves how we feel and behave , and can therefore positively benefit our health and wellbeing. These changes in thinking, together with the relaxation, grounding and rebalancing effects of reflexology, aim to bring about a holistic sense of wellbeing and healing.
